The Assumption and Queenship of Our Lady
How Blessed We Are:   Many Graces Anticipated

What Blessings, What Graces ! The Assumption of Our Lady and Her Queenship are two very closely related events; two sides of one glorious and splendid coin. That is why both feasts come so closely together on the Church’s Calendar. The Assumption reminds us of all the wonderful privileges that God bestowed upon Our Lady: Her Immaculate Conception; Her being the Mother of God (in so far as Jesus is divine and human) in nature, and  Her perpetual virginity.  These privileges  brings us closer in our understanding as to why she was assumed body and soul into heaven. They speak to us of the totally pure state of Her Heart, body and soul during the totality of Her earthly life. Te Assumption and Queenship of Mary are  events that tell us of the Glories of Our Lady and the

great lengths that God took to create and preserve a woman would be the one through whom the head of the serpent, Satan, would be crushed. The Assumption of Our Lady reminds us of all that God did regarding Our Lady during Her life on earth. The Queenship of Our Lady reminds us of what God continues to do through Mary after She was assumed into Heaven. It also reminds us of the eternal dimension of Mary, that God always had, from all eternity, the plan to create such a perfect and wonderful Mother for us all.

Her Queenship reminds us that God did not Assume Our Lady only for Her benefit, nor did he bestow all of Our Lady’s unique privileges on Her, simply to make Her a fitting dwelling for His Son. He did all of these wonderful things whilst having in mind, giving us a gift beyond imagining.

God did all these wonderful things whilst having us in mind, giving us a gift beyond imagining.

The gift of Our Lady  is only surpassed by the gift of Jesus Christ.

Indeed what a beautiful gift we have in Our Lady:  The one who is  Mother of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is given to us as Our Mother also.  (This was done at the foot of the Cross, with St John representing all believers).  This same Mother is also the one who is Queen of Heaven and Earth.

To think that we have Christ the King of all Kings as our brother, and Our Lady, Queen of Heaven and Earth as Our Mother!  This means that by adoption and incorporation into the Body of Christ we are indeed a royal people!  What dignity our good God bestows on His faithful!

As mentioned, the honours bestowed upon Our Lady were for the good of all His Church.  How quickly Our Lady started to work for the good of the Church and the world.  This was seen historically straight after her Assumption.  Historians put the year as in the 1st Century. St James was having no success at all in converting the pagans of Spain but then all that changed in an instant when Our Lady appeared to Him. (See Our Lady of Zaragosa, Spain) He followed Her invitation to have a Shrine in Her honour and before long his work started to bear great fruit. So too will our lives start to bear great fruit if we have Our Lady in our hearts, guiding us to Jesus.

Do not miss this great opportunity. Do join us on this very special and blessed occasion and expect to receive graces and blessings from Heaven through Her Immaculate Heart.

Padrew Pio is a wonderful modern saint renowned for miracles.  The relic is blood from his stigmated hands.  Come and be blessed!
